If
you are referred for an evaluation of your dizziness, your doctor is
seeking information about which of your systems responsible for balance
is causing your symptoms. Dizziness may be classified as off
balance, spinning, or lightheadedness.
Your eye muscles, balance centers in the inner ear and your sense of
touch and central nervous system all work together to manage your
balance. Each member of your body's "balance team" is evaluated
and measured. The evaluation offers the Audiologist and your
Doctor an opportunity to recreate your symptoms in a controlled setting
in order to measure your eye movement and reaction to the sensations
you experience. This information will offer a more complete
picture so that your physician may recommend a course of treatment.
Fill out our Dizziness Questionnaire and bring it in when you come in for your visit.
