Hearing Loss
Hearing loss happens, in many cases, so gradually that the listener may be the last person to know. Family and friends may tire of repeating themselves or of frequently being misunderstood. Missing out on a colleague’s important thoughts grandchild’s words, the coffee pot brewing, hummingbird’s chatter, a siren of an approaching ambulance...these are sounds that may be brought back to your life.
The first step is to identify the degree and cause of the suspected hearing loss. A licensed and certified Audiologist is the professional who should administer a comprehensive diagnostic evaluations. At Hearing Services of Tennessee your Doctor of Audiology will tell you at the time of your evaluation if a referral to a doctor is recommended. If hearing aids are recommended, you will learn about the different hearing aid styles and circuits. Your Audiologist is skilled in identifying which instruments are best for you and will help you narrow down your choices to fit in your budget.
Hearing Loss Types
A hearing test tells us your degree of hearing loss and the type of hearing loss, both of which guide our recommendations.
